About

Emily has been in private practice for over 11 years. Until recently, she divided her time amongst two different private practice locations serving clients from every county in West Tennessee, as well as individuals and families who commuted from Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Alabama. Currently, Emily has one office in Adamsville, Tennessee. In the past, Emily has gained experience working with a vast array of clients. Aside from private practice, she contracted with a community awareness organization to provide services for individuals who are the victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. She also provided contracted services for the state of Tennessee's families and children who were at risk for separation. Emily provided therapy for college students at a university's counseling center. She has served children as young as 18 months old, adults well past retirement age, and people of all life stages in between. Emily's goal is to help people learn to help themselves. By creating a safe place to heal, she presents individuals the opportunity to feel heard and understood by normalizing and universalizing the emotions and struggles that can become so overwhelming. By using expressive therapy techniques, individuals have the opportunity to explore and express feelings they may not have consciously known were affecting them. Emily graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in 2003 with a B.S. in Psychology. She then attended the University of Tennessee- Martin and obtained an M.S. in Community Mental Health Counseling in 2006. Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC-MHSP); an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS); a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S); a Certified Animal Assisted Play Therapist® (CAAPT); and a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (C-DBT). She is also a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant (CBCC-KA). Emily is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and serves on the board of the International Institute for Animal Assisted Play Therapy®.
